The necessity of LED tunnel lighting for tunnel lighting energy saving
The development of highway construction, especially the development of highway construction in mountainous areas, has brought about a rapid increase in the scale and length of highway tunnels. According to incomplete statistics, the construction mileage of highway tunnels in my country has exceeded 2500km. At the same time, the energy consumption of tunnel operation, especially the energy consumption of tunnel lighting, has become more and more prominent, which has a serious impact on the construction of a safe and harmonious traffic environment.
There are more than 200 expressway tunnels in Chongqing, which will cost nearly 300 million yuan per year for lighting and electricity, which is quite considerable.
Electricity charges for road tunnel lighting have become a huge burden for operating units. Energy saving and consumption reduction, and ensuring safety are technical problems that construction and operating units urgently need to solve. The main factors that affect the power consumption of road tunnel lighting are the efficiency of lamps, the layout of lamps, and the control scheme. At present, traditional lamps such as high-pressure sodium lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, and halogen lamps widely used in road tunnel lighting have low luminous efficiency, slow start-up, high energy consumption, and are not conducive to intelligent control. The use of high-pressure mercury lamps will also bring problems such as mercury pollution. At present, the requirements of building a resource-saving and environment-friendly society in my country, and exploring the use of new and efficient light sources are the key to solving the problem. Light-emitting diode (LED) lighting fixtures are a new type of lighting source with the advantages of low energy consumption, good light directivity, long life, fast response, and no mercury pollution. Compared with traditional sodium lamps, the energy saving ratio of LED tunnel lights can reach 45%~50%. If the related incidental energy saving is included, the total energy saving ratio can reach about 55%.
